I create beautiful things with my hands. Well, I raised two beautiful girls so I would like to believe I did a decent job there because they both turn out okay.
I had a mini diploma in dressmaking ages ago because one of my dreams is to dress up my princesses with dresses that I never got to wear when I was young. Looking for fabric and laces was probably the most exciting entertainment for a stay-home mother like me back in the 80s. Yes, more exciting than Guns N' Roses and Lionel Richie in my humble opinion.
My daughters didn't always like what I make for them but that's okay. We all learn what worked and what didn't through trying. They grew up too quickly and fashion has become so affordable I began to shift my focus to accessories like bags and so on. I make them for myself. I like larger bags because they can fit the oranges and guavas from pasar easily.
One day, my daughter happily announced the arrival of a new member at her office - a not-so-tiny lilac kitty. We all fell in love with her. I thought the best way for me to show my love to this kitty is to do what I do best, sewing. Some of my designs look hideous on her, some look absolutely gorgeous. My daughter decided that more kitties and doggos out there should have the privilege of dressing up too so she quietly established Made By Fong for me and look where we are today.
